A gentleman and his wife came into the Refurbished Equipment Marketplace (REM) in need of an attendant controlled wheelchair as he had a terminal illness and did not have enough time to wait to be fitted for and receive a custom build wheelchair. Through the REM, he was able to acquire and be fitted for a used wheelchair to meet his needs. He was an automotive enthusiast and because of the wheelchair, he was able to travel to automotive events for the last few months of his life. After he passed away, his wife returned the wheelchair to the REM since it had meant so much for them to be able to have the wheelchair in their time of need.

While attending the annual Age of Champions event, a woman asked about hearing assistive technology to be able to hear her three-year-old granddaughter in the back seat of the car. We scheduled a time for her to come to the office and we tried a Pocketaler and bone conduction headphones. We looked at the placement of the microphone for her granddaughter. She was able to borrow the Pocketalker and the bone conduction headphones. Within a month she returned the items as her son and daughter-in-law had bought her both items for her birthday. She reported her granddaughter was thrilled to be able to converse with her while in the car.

Describe innovative one high-impact assistance training activity conducted during the reporting period:
ATinNH conducted a two-part training for individuals who experience ALS. One training taught participants about available AT for conditions they may experience and the other training looked at creating and fabricating AT to assist them.
Breifly describe one training activity related to transition conducted during the reporting period:
The ATinNH program participated in the transition from high school to post-secondary education for new college students who experience disabilities. A hands-on assistive technology workshop was conducted to provide the students with knowledge about assistive technology for reading and writing as well as a hands-on opportunity to build a device to hold an iPad or to scan and read documents for students with learning disabilities or vision impairments, transitioning from high school to post-secondary education. In addition, we partner with the library to support incoming freshmen who experience disabilities by providing examples of assistive technology solutions for reading and writing.?
Breifly describe one training activity related to Information and Communication Technology accessibility:
ATinNH conducted a three webinar series in conjunction with Global Accessibility Awareness Day. We covered topics around standards and best practices, accessible documents, and remediation.

Describe Innovative one high-impact assistance activity that is not related to transition:
A member from ATinNH is the chairperson for the Accessibility Strategic Team at the Institute on Disability. Is this role she has assisted with an accessibility audit of a new office space as well as worked to establish and implement an Accessibility and Inclusion Statement for the Institute on Disability. Additionally, ATinNH has provided technical assistance to the AT courses at UNH as well as additional courses throughout the USNH system.
Breifly describe one technical assistance activity related to transition conducted during the reporting period:
ATinNH has worked with the planning committee of UNH4U. UNH4U is being designed as a comprehensive transition program in higher ed. ATinNH has provided technical assistance at this planning stage around the incorporation of AT as an integral part of the program. It is anticipated that ATinNH will continue to provide technical assistance and training as part of the UNH4U program.
Describe in detail at least one and no more than two innovative or high-impact public awareness activities conducted during this reporting period. Highlight the content/focus of the awareness information shared, the mechanism used to disseminate or communicate the awareness information, the numbers and/or types of individuals reached, and positive outcomes resulting from the activity. If quantative numbers are available regarding the reach of the activity, please provide those: however, quantative data is not required.
1. ALS Symposium: This was a wonderful conference where we were able to connect with both individuals with ALS and their caregivers. People got to try out devices and see what is available as the disease progresses. We provided individuals with the NH AT4All website and reached out to the coordinator in order to set up future trainings and partnerships.
2. In conjunction with the UNH Graduate Certificate in Assistive Technology program, ATinNH holds 4 open house events per year. Emails are sent to the entire AT list at the Institute on Disability inviting them to join us and try out available AT. Each Open House has a different theme and has been well attended. These opportunities give participants a hands-on experience and more knowledge about what AT is available through ATinNH for themselves or their clients.
